Flower-storms, Moonbeams

17/04/2013

I’ve evidently been reading a lot of Saigyo recently, but here are two compositions about recent realizations of unexpected, unwelcome sweetness.

I didn’t expect these blossoms
already falling
can I forget their scent?
So innocent
to what feelings they stir within me.

Oh spring moon
why do your sudden beams
feel so sorrowful?
With unwelcome clarity
you shine on through my window.
